Each year, CTA (Colorado Technology Association, formally CSIA) hosts DEMOgala, an event focused on new technology and innovation in and around Colorado. Companies come to exhibit at the event, speakers come to share insights and focused break out sessions are held to educate attendees on ‘hot topics’ in the industry. The highlight of the entire event, however, is the 5 minute live demos of new tech products and ideas. Exhibitors came from across the country and even Canada to present 5 minute demos of their latest technology innovations.
Demo is two fold for us at o2 Group because our Events group manages all production and video, while our Web group participates in the conference to learn about the latest technology in the industry. We look forward to DEMOgala each year; it is exciting to see the new presentations and the increased participation.
This year, DEMOgala closed this year with a bang. The big finale came from the well-known local company, MapQuest. They announced the launch of MapQuest Vibe literally bringing a new, hip vibe to the MapQuest brand. MapQuest doesn’t resonate with me as being ‘hip’ or ahead of the game, so this launch really impressed me.
Here is a brief overview of MapQuest Vibe.
“The “local knowledge” is generated with a new patented algorithm called VibeRank. This blended social-algorithmic formula takes several implicit signals (like searches on MapQuest and cartographic data), creates a baseline ranking and then layers on explicit social signals from the new Vibe pages. “
